AGP #131 “Rocky Mahog” - (3 String Baritone CBG) - Scale: 736.6mm / 29 inches - Strings: .0.46NW / .036NW / .026NW - Tuning: DAdBuilt this 24 Fret Baritone beast 3 years ago originally for the purpose of playing Nigel McTrustry's great!, and easy!, to follow online lesson of his version of "Paris Texas", Thank You Nigel for posting this one, and, all your other great lessons, probably sounds nothing like Nigel’s or Ry Cooders version, so apologies to both, but it is what is: the “Ham Fisted Bricklayers” version of this great tune, it’s played through a modified version of the ’57 Fender Deluxe setting on my 40 Watt Fender Mustang II Amp.

  • Thanks for the tips Pick, have used a Prewired "Gitty Amp Kit" in a One Gallon Rum Can build with no prob's. but think I'll go with a timber build after I've done a bit of homework on the wiring side :-)

  • altho i have done many built in amp guitars  , i can't take credit for this one ,  it's a Keith Allan  build. Metal can cause many issues  especially  in an amp  .. including rattling   etc . but can be done . your idea sounds feasible .  Just keep everything separated from the tin (with rubber / washers etc)and  keep that speaker as far away from the pickup as you can get it  .   those are my tips  ;-)  no need for the seperations with  wood tho .  ps . mason jar rubber liners work great  to separate speakers  from the tin .  ;-)

  • Cool Vid Pick, now I know what the Anon Pick Sound is all about!, and only you could come up with a word like "Hauntomonous"  :-)

Love the CBG with built in Amp & Amp Jack, I recently purchased an Artec 2.5W Speaker Drive Amplifier with the intention of using it in a largish 10ltr US Jerry Can as an Amp, and then thought why not do a build in Amp Git, I also purchased an Artec QDD Quadra-Distortion (Psycho Knob), you being the Master of the "Built In Amp" do you think it's feasible or even possible to incorporate the 2 in the one build, I'm also thinking they might test ones soldering skills, of which I'm reasonably confident I can do , but not sure if I'll use the Jerry Can or just do Box Build to suit :-)

  • found it .  be patient . the first part is silent  ;-)

  • cheers AGP ,  ps .. on the" Anon pick sound "   i  fully agree with Dave  ,   when i first joined here  , i made a fun lil   album called  "hauntominous"  , with a ghostly    halloween    theme  . From your first notes on this Video  it was all i could think of ,  a very close  match  .  The video is old now ,and  play button is disabled on   it (as most old vids here)  , but  ill look for a playable copy  .

The comparison  you will find uncanny .

  • "PS" Thanks the anonymous pick for the recent tip on hitting the Add Comment button then Refresh, it certainly makes things easier and less frustrating  :-D

  • "Thanks Jim" it's nice to get a compliment from one of the Masters  :-)

  • "Thanks New Flower Pot Men", there's that word ambient again, good word, I like it  :-)

  • "Thanks Dave", what an accolade, "The Anon Pick Sound", not sure if I'm up to that standard at the moment !!!!   :-)

  • "Thanks Andries", Yep! more playing & less building for me in the future  :-D
