The soundboard is 1/8" luan mahagony stripped off a discarded interior door. Hey vinylhed a weedwhacker in the US is a whippersnipper in Australia not sure about U.K. terminology. We use it to trim grass and replacement strings are pretty cheap in various diameters.
I want to thank you Jim I was going to the hardware store today and in my head I start singing SAVIN NIKCLES SAVIN DIMES. that thing sure does project well. How thick is the soundboard?
Such a great Idea for a standup base including the string. And beyond the the home made instrument the man can sing!!! I like the rendition of Blue Bayou allot.
