  Yeh.. it's kind of weird how fragile everything can still be.

  Apparently when they cleared out of the east German barracks they were given money to buy houses back home, and they still took the windows, toilets, wiring and just about everything. If it was the UK they would have made them into flats by now and sold them all off..

  I was also told too, if you leave a candle burning on a Trabant, all you end up with eventually is some burnt out seat frames. But you don't see many of those either these days, except on Trabi tours.

  Odd to think that the Berlin wall has now been down for almost as long as it was up.

  For me, being ex-Military, it's quite strange to have friends and work colleagues of my age in Eastern Germany.  Just over 25 years ago we were ready to turn them all to ashes, and them us.  Politics !
