In my fav. haunt, I discovered a whole rack of aluminum channel ( 7/8s by 1 1/2 inches).... being sold by the pound it was super cheap (four 3 foot lengths less than $ 3), so I had to try to build a guitar on it....

  • Thanks Jim... with a piezo and a tuner and a string you can play almost anything...
  • Wow this sounds great...
  • My "finished" model has a mahogany veneer fingerboard... a little less "scratchy" and much better looking...

    thanks for the comment...

  • Has a beautiful bass tone! Hard to tell it's even metal....
  • format problem... I won't have time to sort it out until Friday.... the lastest one on YouTube is a much better looking and slightly better sounding. I'm looking for plastic endcaps for the Al channel to complete the look.

I really do love playing it...

  • THAT'S the right speed! lol The one over at your youtube account was a bit speedy!
  • I've retro'd two bass tuners and the E and A strings from a bass set and this thing is WOW. A little sensitive to contact noise with the piezo, but I'm working on that....
  • i like it. looks solid as a rock
  • Thanks for everyone....

THis afternoon, I built another on a guitar scale (24 1/2") and three strings (5-4-3) and it sounded terrible. The dimensions of the channel must be perfert for bass response... The next thing I"ll try is loading the first one with E/A bass strings....
  • Really a great sound. Sure thought it would sound different.
