Simple, original blues in an old timey style. Kind of a different line structure. I hope I didn't steal the tune. I've heard so many blues that I just don't know. - Uncle John 3 in DGB.I [I] used to know a gal named Alice Brown,She' had a [IV] two room suite in a hotel down town. She was a [V] cleanin' woman there and she got those two rooms [I] cheap.I had a [V] thing for her and I hoped she'd have a thing for [I] me.I took Alice out, on my payday. At first she had not much to say. Then she drank two gins, and started talkin' plenty.I had a thing for her and I hoped she'd have a thing for me.Then I took her down to Joe's Chilli Parlor.Tamales and chili for under a dollar.I could tell right away, she was impressed.I had a thing for her and I hoped she'd have a thing for me.I used to dream about what she'd be like.Twenty pounds of love in a ten pound sack. But she told me, “Johnny, You got to move real slow.I had a thing for her and I hoped she'd have a thing for me.She said she had to get to know me, I understood that. She talked about her momma and her brother Jack. But she never mentioned her husband Joe.I had a thing for her and I hoped she'd have a thing for me.I didn't know she was lawfully wed.Until Joe came along and hit me upside the head.He knocked me down and stomped me too.HmmmmmmmmHmmmmmmmm

  • Funny tune Unc! Love the chili parlor rhyme. Perhaps if Jack and her go on the outs you can woo her with your pawn bidnessman's charm ;-)

  • I love that, Nancy.  So many thanks to you.

  • 757348573?profile=RESIZE_710xNot only married but a crazy cat lady to boot!!! Liked it U~John!! Just purrfect for your vocals and style... Meowwwwww^..^

  • You got a watch those pretty women that tell it all up front. I loved that song there Unc hope the hit upside the head wasnt too severe. Great job

  • Thanks for the kind words and the funny ones too. I enjoyed both.  And in case I never mentioned it before, my daddy said, 'Never trust a gin drinker.'

  • Uncle, you must have something to pawn! I know where you can get a reasonably good deal! Light powered by flashlight, cool visual though. Looks like a movie screen behind you, are you real or  celluloid ! Stealing blues ain’t stealing if it’s your story too! Your a darn good story teller, and in a fashion you love and do so very well. Nothing impresses a girl more than cheap tamales and chili, gin works wonders you sly dog! And no problem, moving real slow, right! Alice couldn’t have been happy about Joe, and it seems you agree. Stomping at the end of the song might have been some nice percussion effects, painful memories Though Johnny.....I mean Uncle!

  • Thanks, Buggy.  I could use the loan, but I heard you were ragged, dirty and broke.

  • Looks and sounds great...
do you need to borrow 50p for the electric meter? :>)
  • Thanks, Patrick.  It may be a work in progress or a set aside.

  • Nice oldtime look and feel. Well done John!
