First instrument I ever made. I still build and play music for a living... thousands of instruments later, it's still a joy and a privilege.

  • Hey Shane, [still not sure if this is the best place to reply to a comment?]
I've really enjoyed your vids too. Don't think I've seen them all yet, but so far I love the Rag,
the ragaish one and the Blind Willie improv... your touch coaxes great tone from those boxes.
    I believe I came across those CBG plans in 2004... who'd a thunk they'd birth a nation?...;-)
And thanks for the site... from the little web stuff I've done I know it can be a lot of work keeping up.
    All the best,
    David
P.S. I've added CB Reso to my "wish I could find time to build it" list - now if Darren can get me a uke cone!

  • Hey TinQ18 -
I haven't quite figured out how to reply to certain posts yet?
I love the look and sound of your reso. I notice you put not cover plate over the cone.
Do you find you have to be more careful with it? Is is vulnerable to denting for instance?
Is that one of those Uke resonators or something you found in France?
I spent a little time in Paris once. Played in the underground. A lady friend, Christine Alicot, who played concert flute moved to the states and recorded a CD with me. She still live here teaching music and doing french translation.
    Keep up the good work.

  • David , Sounds like you found an old friend . Great sound and a well done video . Love that bluegrass.... would love to hear some more . Definitely 5 stars !!!!
  • Hey Tin,
I'm only using the back of one finger... and the thumb of course. Frailing is a little like riding a bicycle and a lot of things... it's only hard during that learning curve... then it clicks in and it gets easy. Now I'd like to learn to use a slide like you.
  • Hey Guys, Thanks for the kind words.

Hamhock - I discovered Cigar Box Nation because of that video you posted of you and David playing buckets of rain. Great little improv - David had only been playin' a couple of weeks. Dulci and cigar box sound great together. We should get together and play some tunes some time... we're neighbors!
