Shelly,
Your web-site is fantastic and I truly love the ukulele #1. Wanted to see if you had any pics on your uku #2. You totally had me with the string guard. I'm wondering how the heck you fixed the strings to it until I watched you vid. You pulled it off and it has velcro!!! Woe, you're goooood!

cheers,
John

Good morning Shelly!
I also loved to search around on your website!
On mine, it is'nt special figured out, how much I work with found and used parts and materials, to create my own stuff... I#m just have started to build a special site about this point, but it's nearly not finished:
http://www.stabil-berlin.de/gobis_welt.html

About your touring plans: I'm not verry in this point of playing somwhere, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open.
Berlin is an interesting place, sometimes rough in a way...
Allways on 21. Jun ther is the "Fête de la Musique" where bands and people play in the hole town - I think you know this also in Netherlands.... but it's all for free.
To get engaged, I think it would be a good idear to talk with some bars, to play there... I could give you some names and contacts.
Hope to see you sometimes!
(and sorry for my bad english, hopfully mixing with duch will do it)
;)

Have you noticed there is a CBG Uke Group on here now?! There's only three of us, and I know little about them. See you there!

Hey Shelley, no, I haven't started making one yet. I visited the hardware store Friday to get some ideas and stuff to make one. I need to buy a saw to cut the fret holes. I hope I don't mess up the first one I try, cause it is a candy tin with a pretty scene. I am not sure how to do it yet. I am going to try.

Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee

Hi Shelley. I have written up my Uke story. It is too long to send here.

I will happily send it to your personal email if you feel comfortable with that.

My email is: brido11(AT)bigpond.com (replace (AT) with @ )

Only contact me on my email if you are happy about this arrangement.

Yes indeed. I am not madly knowledgeable about continental lace bobbins. i have a collection but i have just "plonked them in as "Belgium" rather than the area of Belgium. i did notice that i have said "Flanders" in the file. i think it is reasonable to say "Torchon" but I am not going on record for that! In any case those are modern made and "Flanders" does not really come into it except for an Historical origin. Oh dear, i am bluffing my way along! Forgive me.
I should say that the shaft of most bobbins (but certainly not all) are parallel.
If i thought there was a market for them i would turn "Lace Bobbin tuning pegs" Just joking. :)
Glad I opened up the world of lace bobbins to you. The trouble is that I suspect you are the kind of person who will keep that tucked away for action in the future! :)

Basically they are a standard Belgium bobbin that you have there. There are many other types from Belgium and parts of Belgium and also the "old Flanders".

Bobbin history gets complicated with the Belgium, Dutch, Flanders thing. But I am almost certainly giving you too much information.

I should say that my expertise is in English (as opposed to Continental bobbins) and East Devon (Honiton) bobbins from withing that area.\

If you are interested in the sort of things i write about then a selection of them is on the following URL.

I "think" i saw some "lace bobbins" being used as tuning pegs in your slide show. Tell me more as I am a "lace Bobbin" historian.

BTW I just love your singing voice.
