Who Inspires You?

Since, I have been learning the CBG I have surrounded myself in things I believe will keep me on track with my learning process. One of the things I have done is expanding my music collection to include Blues artists and groups. With that I wanted to ask those here. Who inspires you? What music inspires you to create and play? I would love to add your favorites to my private music collection. Thanks Earth

  • ROFLH Love it. CBN should do a Inspiration CD and let the members enter songs they did by those that inspire them. It could be a very cool CD and all put together by members of CBN.

  • Oui
  • Les Miserablues?
  • Richey,

You could call it...The Music of the Night: Andrew Lloyd Webber Interpreted on the Cigar Box Guitar, featuring -

Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreambox
    Jesus Christ Whammybar
Don't Cry For Me, Romeo y Julieta
    Barlight Excess
    Gats
  • So many great places to start. Thanks guys. You are truly helpful. :)

  • Sarah Brightman? Are you a closet musicals fan Antonio? That gives me an idea for the next CBN album...
  • Andre bortchelli , sarah brightman.     Lightnin hopkins ,  Uncle john.  and everyone else who has the sack to post up vids to get people inspired to play and the guys like pick and prygian kid and ted and others like that who have the patience to explain and answer the same question every three weeks when someone new comes on , but in the process re drive the idea home in some slow learners uh um.  such as myself haha.  I would say the bulk of this site inspires me to create and to play . But the guy i owe it all to is a cat by the  name Hector Pena'  without him i would have never been introduced to this wonderful instrument, and this site.

  • I would say to start with the players right here. Shane speal, one string Willie Any of Boz old recordings. Heck if the masters of the CBG set of cds does not move you I would be surprised. All of the old blues players as well as everyone already mentioned.

    good luck

  • Guy Davis.   The best of the old and new blues.  Lots of his stuff on youtube.

Pandora Radio.  It's free and has few commercials.  Go there, chose a blues genre or blues artist and 'create a station.'   Say I choose Guy.  They will play some of his stuff and stuff they think is similar that I may like.  Helps me learn a lot of artists and songs.  I tend to play computer chess while I listen.
