Just about to set off to the airport to collect Tinqui8. He's here in the UK to play some gigs...and hopefully he'll see a bit more of the UK than the last couple of times..when all he saw was the inside of a pub and the main venue, a motel room...and West Brom shopping centre!

And yet more audience participation...hmmm, definitely Trouble with a capital "T" brewing...still, Olivier was pretty philosophical about it all...how we laughed afterwards!!!
And here's some photos of Saturday night at The Brass Monkey, Hastings
The main man...Tinqui8
Support from Jeremiah Longshanks
..and ChickenboneJohn
On Hastings seafront..ever one for the photo opportunity....
And onto the last gig of the tour...arriving at The Prince Albert in Brighton...it pretty well had everything you want in a gig...copious amounts of Jack Daniels & Coke on the house (tho' as my role as a responsible tour manager I was drinking it without the JD...)....young women joining in with the singing and dancing... a bar-room incident involving a leggy Latvian blonde, her jealous boyfriend and some physical violence...followed by after-hours drinking at the "so groovy it hurt" Green Door Blues Club....then it's the "it's 2.00am, we've got a full tank of gas and we're wearing sunglasses" moment...
Opening for Tinqui8 in the front room bar of The Prince Albert
The start of the audience participation numbers....goodness me, Olivier does have a way with the ladies..it's an eduction to just watch him in action...
And yet more audience participation...goodness me that Latvian blonde lady was a bit of a handful..."Ah, Mr Chickenbone, you are the DaVinci of the guitar, no?"...and all this while right in front of her boyfriend she was ...er... to be frank, rather friendly in a pretty "hands on" way with me and Olivier...maybe that's the way it is in Latvia
Anyway....after a bit of a scene (the gaffer was pretty cool about it, as it was over in a flash)...we packed up and headed off to a late night blues bar...
Intimate cabaret-style final number right at the front row table....My God he's good, he's VERY good at this sort of thing...
And on for the last drink of the evening at the Green Door Blues Club...
It's seriously cool...a hard-edged ex-railway stores warehouse, bare brick wall, uneven brick floor, rusty steel everywhere...and a hot, groovy amosphere....we'll be back.
Wonderful photos! (-:
Tinqui8 with our host Simon, gaffer at The Brass Monkey....he looked after us all day and all evening, booking us a nice b & b for the night just a short stagger from the venue...and the Jack Daniels & Coke kept flowing into the wee small hours!
After the gig in Hastings..a bit of r & r on Hastings beach...
Tinqui8 ready to paddle back home...it's long way to the French- Spanish border....
Me being all windswept and interesting.....
"'Allo my British chums...Tinqui8 here"....I think the speedboat rather suits him....
Don't know who's in his sights..but the sign says it all....
A quick getaway up the coast to Brighton....CBG already on board....
And here's Tinqui8 teaching Big Bird how to play guitar....
Le pêcheur des guitares....the guitar fisherman
In Hastings old town...it's "le whiskey o'clock"....
Great stuff dudes-happy to hear its going so well (and pleased Olivier is seeing more of England than the arse end of West Brom!)
First gig on the south coast...the intimate cellar bar that is The Chambers in Folkestone.. a really nice place, and Chris is a great host...moules frites, Caesar salad, and a bottle of wine...on the house, and on the table as soon as we'd finished soundchecking...that's definitely the way to do it!
Opening for Olivier at The Chambers...
Then on to Hastings....with a double header...a daytime workshop and an evening gig. The weather was great, so we set up everything for the workshop in the courtyard..here's Jez in the thick of it...
The workshop was a great success...everbody seemed to enjoy the making and learning to play, and it was really encouraging to see that this appealed to the girls as well as the boys...
As it happens, one of the participants works with the local authority...and the workshop is right up their street...so we may well be back with more of this....plus a gig.
Tinqui8 at The Station...with the Woolworths "Audition" guitar
Yes, around 11°C....Tinqui8 had come from 25°C in Bayonne and was feeling the cold.
