Elmer's, Smelmer's

I won't be using Elemer's yellow glue any more. The thicker viscosity makes it a poor choice for gluing where you are using anything other than substantial clamps.  Spring clamps just don't have the force to give a good glue line using Elmers.  Titebond is a little thinner and this helps it perform better under clamping pressure.

  • I always use Titebond 3, i'm even getting to like the smell of it now...wooohooweee! (-;

  • Thanks for the tips....

    Piano rebuild?  Ever do any from lesser known Illinois builders. Used to be factory where I live....

  • Yes I used elmrs for a looong time ,, when i started building the cbq s   ,, knew had to find something deiiferent or or better ,, went to the titebond and   hoo haw  ,,success!!

  • I like Titebond too and for the same reasons as Randy.   Elmer's makes white glue that is better.

    In some places I will use Gorrilla glue - when I WANT it to expand and take up some space - often due to my mediocre craftsmanship!   And that stuff does expand.

    To glue metal to wood, etc.  I use Duco Cement- small green tube - works well, but has to sit overnight.

  • I use the white Titebond trimmers glue, excellent holding and dries clear.
