"That's why I put my scarf joint right under the first 3 frets of the fretboard. That gives me the fretboard, trussrod and the 2 pieces of the scarf joint all glued into place. I also add 2 dowels running through the scarf joint for extra…"

Paul Craig replied to Paul Craig's discussion What's on your workbench?
"Stewmac sells carbon fiber rods to help stiffen necks and having them run through the scarf joint would be a good idea. I also think that the longer the scarf joints are and the more materials used in and around that joint will make it strong."

Daniel Walter replied to Paul Craig's discussion What's on your workbench?
"hers's a scarf joint i'm fond of. this neck shouldn't break any time soon. the second one as well, carbon fiber and purple heart running into the head stock. hard woods rule. i do like fixing broken stuff though."

Paul Craig replied to James Pobog's discussion lots of new stuff and possibly an original idea...
"Keep it fretless so you can make the nut movable to change scale lengths. Use a clamp for securing the nut. Bridge stays in place and pickup positions will stay the same. pickups will have better response and volume close to the strings, but have…"

Paul Craig replied to James Pobog's discussion Another wiring question
