An 18" scale 3 string acoustic instrument inspired by Kaki King and her "passerelle" bridge (akin to a Japanese koto).The central bridge is located at the position of the 16th fret which makes the top and bottom halves of the string 5ths.

  • An old friend and colleague of mine once built a clavichord with a divided octave in this manner. It had 5 octaves, was massive and required two of us to get it up and down stairs. He copied it from an early 18c German instrument and it has a special name based on the original designer/builder. Unfortunately I can no longer remember that name!
