We're Jammin'!

Biscuit tin dulcimer fretted guitar. The tin is a Marks and Spencers tin which was full of Jammie Dodgers before Christmas (but not for long - I do like a Jammie Dodger). Maple fretboard, iroko neck. Bit nerve-wrecking putting the bridge in - a wooden bridge didn't work because the tin has a rounded top (much buzzing), so I panicked and used screws with hacksawed groove. Seems to work okay.

  • Hi Jason, Bluesheart. Thank you both for your comments. I can't take any credit for the picture, my photographer friend Andy took it. It is rather good I think.

  • Wow, that is so cool! Great job and really nice photo too. A+

  • Great looking build!!

  • Thanks for the comments everyone! Crimson, Jammie Dodgers are ace, they're like a jam sandwich, but with biscuits. Glenn, the piezo sounds good - I think I glued it directly to the neck because it was too sharp when I tried it on the tin. It sounds better with a bit of gain on the amp though. I'd definately use screws again for the bridge (it's cool because you can adjust the height of each one really easily), but next time I would do the bridge first and then do the frets - easier on the nerves!

  • That's a sweet build! How's the piezo sound?

  • With ya on the drill press thing.... Awesome build

  • Hmmm..never had a Jammie Dodger, but the combo of the name with the tin makes me want some...lol....And i also like the premise of the bridge idea...be fun to expand on it...

  • grandmas  house  ;-)

  • Thanks for the kind words. It does look clean (it's a nice tin, so it's good to make the most of it) but it could do easily have gone very badly! I only just drilled straight down into the neck...must get a drill press one day!

  • cool idea doing that bridge like that, it makes it look clean
