Here is the steel bar and slot to receive it cut in the neck with the table saw. I'm still working out how I'm going to join the neck to the box but I think it will with plug inserts and bolts.

Cool, I just did the same thing to a neck, embedded the bar with clear gorrilla glue. In my case, the neck goes all the way through the box and anchors at the base.
