Tri-can cone test

1 x Sprite 1 x Diet coke 1 x Ginger beer... cone testhack saw and tinsnips for last bit seem to work with a bit of sanding...my screws are a bit short so had to put cones other way up.. recon these should work a treat in a cigar box

  • hey juju, is that really right?  i mean, yes, i agree that that's the standard layout for a tricone, but according to d'addario, string tension within a set is pretty uniform from treble to bass - within 20% and the heavy spot is close to the middle.

    maybe its one of those things that seems to be sensible, but isn't really based on fact?

    maybe the wider footprint of the top part of the 't' moves better with the low frequencies produced on that end of the bridge?

    interesting.  looks like the ideal rig to do some testing on too. good work 407bug.

  • cool i like it - dont want to sound like a know it all but the idea of the T-Bridge on a Tri-Cone is the heavy strings sit at the top of the T-Bridge where the two cones are this helps spread the pressure of the heavy strings accross the tow top cones and the single cone copes with the lighter pressure of the thin strings and balances everything out
