Top-mount neck

An idea to simplify the neck montage, without forfeiting the acoustic properties of the box.The "hollowed out" neck will be attached to the top of the box with 4 (6?) screws, the bridge will be attached independently directly to the top, so the string vibrations will be transmitted directly to the box.

  • Hi ...works a treat without hollowing the neck...my last video upload... my handle is a bit tall, but plays with a slide..

    mahogany neck and acoustic strings...china's finest and cheapest!!

    I planned it for a solid oak neck (I have a pick-axe handle, with a nice, upright-bassy radius).

    The other possibility would be a "whole-length" truss rod.

  • Nice drawing and idea.  Be sure to some how keep it strong and flex free.
