Three necks again

The clamps are off. On the middle one I recessed space for the tuner washers. Not sure it was worth the effort. Top one still needs a fretboard and head shaping.

  • Hi Kevin.

It wasn't particularly hard. Because the tuners need one diameter and the nuts from the other side need another, adding the recess for the washers means there are three different parts (diameters) to each hole, so you can't do all of it from one side but have to re-centre from the other side. Other than that there isn't anything much to it. I used a milling cutter (because I have some) rather than a wood bit. Hope that makes sense.

    All the best.

  • Hi John, the headstock I've just finished is too thick for the machine heads, and I don't want to thin the whole thing out so I was going to do something like what you've done here with the recessed space for the washers. Was it a pain to do? Did you use a flat paddle wood bit?
