  • I have to say that I really didn't like working with wenge. It's pretty hard and I had a really tough time getting the frets in. It's also chippy and splintery in the band saw. I ended up making the fret slots a tab wider with a hack saw then dropping and super-gluing the frets in. Then (wee-waah) the super glue fumes reacted with the polyurethane. I had to carefully buff out the white residue that was created. Big lesson: no more polyurethane on the fretboard.
  • I just looked up wenge on the Rockler site. very nice looking wood. what did you finish it with? I was considering rosewood for my next neck, but this might be the one. I have a cream-colored Vengeance box that would look good with this, I think.
