  • Sounds like you have your hands full and building them in one weekend with just hand tools is impressive. I built my first 3 with hand tools and i know how hard it is. Let me know if you want some skelaton keys, the antique shops here have a lot of them. Don't know how much it will cost to ship to US, but hey what won't you do for a a fellow soldier :)

  • well, now I have only hand tools no real equiptment to speak of. I also have 4 kids under the age of 16 3 jobs and a military commitment. I am lucky to build one in just over a week end. I usually string them up on a Monday night after a week end of building.

  • Well, taking into account I needed to gather some missing tools, experiment with finishing, practice soldering and how incredibly lazy I am, it took me around 6 weeks for 3 of them. I have another 5 boxes and necks in various stages of completion waiting for me. My original plan was to complete 8 guitars in 2 weeks... How long does it take you?

  • I love how bright shallow boxes can sound. I just used one on a 4 string uke that sounds really nice to my ear. How long does it take to make one of those for you?

  • Thanks Matt :) They do sounds good. Was worrying about it, since this is the first time I used shallow boxes.

  • Those are absolutely beautiful!! and just what the tradition is all about. I love the skelaton keys I have a hard time finding them around my home town. Bet they sound great
