The Twins

Just a quick in-work progress report. #'s 13 & 14 are a pair of identical red Punch 3 stringers, "Blues-cimer" diatonically fretted. They will have mandolin tailpieces and a simple piezo hot glued under the lid. Back of box and neck color matched to body, walnut fingerboards with 1/4" inlay banding used as binding.

  • Thanks, Bama.  That's sort of been a signature headstock for my last 4 builds.  I can't wait to hear how the "Blues-cimer" fretting sounds!
  • Very nice Hal. I like the cutout in the headstock for the middle string. These are gonna be sweet my friend.
  • Hey Dan, it's walnut, haven't put a finish on it yet, will probably be tung oil.  I'm spraying some low-gloss poly on the necks over the red.  The bridges will be a small piece of walnut with a cut-off brass bolt saddle.  And yes, there is a twin to it, just haven't fitted the neck to it yet.  Hope to have them both finished this Wednesday.
