the Saddle

it's a salvaged saddle, great results with it. i get almost as good when i use a bolt when it is raised in a similar way. the trick over all seems ti be to avoid contact with the through Body part of the neck. this is why you'll see many people carve a gap into this area of the neck.

  • At the time i didn't have anything to shape the neck, but i've since begun to really get in to wood working. This was my 3rd build. I gave 4 and 5 to friends and #6, my first all wood build, to my younger brother. Finish number 7 a little while ago, all wood again, with no through body neck. Thinking I'll have to do another can again. I like them a lot! Thanks for checking out the pic!
  • Nice idea. A true bridge. I recess my pass through neck so it doesn't touch the soundboard except for an inch on each end of the top. This makes a nice place to attach the pup too. I put my sound holes on each side of the top to avoid the pass through. Otherwise you see it right in the sound hole.
