Harvested amp & 15" speaker from a 1957 Fisher console. Found empty 2x15 cab & loaded it with the single speaker for now. Awesome warm tone clean, super dirty with D-1 pedal. R-3 Fisher amp with 4 6V6GT's rated at 195w, most likely close to 50w. I'm lovin' it!!!!!

Did some more research on the Fisher's & found they can run very hot which leads to failures. My chassis in the area of the 4 6V6GT's gets very hot after playing for a while. Harvested a computer fan from an old desk top I don't use any more, elevated the chassis on wood & now have the fan blowing under the chassis in that area. Wow, what a difference, much lower temp in that area!! What's nice about this amp is that there are 3 ac plugs in the rear of the amp, so real easy to plug in accessories like pedals & this fan. I figure this amp is 60 years old, so I had better give it as much help as possible in it's old age because I'm wailin' on it, LOL!!
I may have to give something like that a go one of these days. I used to have a lot more stereo and mono tube console amps around here than I do now. I've been pretty much cleaning house for the last few years.
I feel the same way. Not always the case but the tube stuff usually sounds better to me. My latest favorite is a old tuned up Gregory Mark XV tube combo. It's only around 10-12w (el84's PP) but it's got a reverb to die for. I have other amps to play with but I just can't seem to walk away from this one.
Nothing wrong with The Beast, just some tired tubes. When I kick in the pedal, depending on the axe & pups, I get some minor back ground noise at idle, Once playing all you hear is the axe.
I also have a low watt tube Panasonic that drives a 2x8 cab & it is awesome. Solid state is ok, but a high output big speaker tube job just blows them away!!
What's wrong with the bad one exactly? Jensen 510's and 610's are really cool finds and tough to come by.They can, particularly G-610's bring really big money ($ 4-5,000/pair) in the right circles. Most of those circles ore overseas. The H-510's are pretty desirable also to the same folks.
I'll let ya know if I ever come across a single out there.
ya Ron, amp has 19 tubes, 8 are for audio circuit. 4-6v6gt, 5u4g, 12av6, 12aut, 12at7 (I replaced with a JJ 12ax7 for more gain) Plan on JJ for the other 7.
No hum, all is good until I crank the distortion pedal, crazy bad ass!!!! BTW & you prob know, the Jensen 15" coaxial H-510 are worth big bucks, I'm hoping to find one (to fill the second hole in cab) with a bad cone cheap. Keep me in mind if you come across one. Thanks
I bet! I've pulled a fair share of similar old console amps and many are still pretty sound after a little attitude adjustment. The old coupling or supply caps (metal can) are the ones that are usually getting a bit tired but if your running without hum, you should be fine for a spell. A handful of those tubes (on the right side in the pic) are for the tuner so no need to replace those.

Installed the JJ's & giving a mild burn in. Noticed at moderate levels a cleaner & more distinct tone.

That Gregory sounds like a sweet amp. Be sure to post pics if you hack a mono/stereo amp.
