£125 is a lot of cash to pay for something to put under the saw. You take 4 or 5 normal violins out of circulation for that. I'm sitting waiting for a bunch of stuff from Suntekstore so that I can finish Fiddlestick No1.
Cool instrument - the 2nd one in your list looks like you could just chop the neck off and fit a neck of your choice. I think it's wrong to chop up something if it's rare. However, if it's a cheap and unimportant instrument, then it's fair game. I have a grudge against violins anyway. Had to learn to play the thing when I was a kid. Hated it. Can you imagine - it's 1976, punk is happening and the only 'modern' music I'm allowed for the violin is 'I've got a Brand New Combine Harvester' by the Worzels. Not that it's psychologically scarred me or anything ......
