  • Good question Bruce.  To be honest, I have no way of knowing the effect on tone or sustain.  This is only my second build, so I have nothing to compare to.  Though, I will say that the guitar plays well and sounds great to my uneducated ears.  Granted, it's just a cigar box, so I'm obviously not going to get sound like a big acoustic.

    The one slight drawback of this strings-through-the-body design is that there is significant upward pressure on the lid of the box.  I had to add an extra screw through the top of the lid (see other photo of the front of the guitar) to keep it from lifting up.  That said, I like the look this design yields.

  • Hey Bruce, that same thing happens to me when I step into a cold swimming pool!  ;-}}

    Does this change the tone or sustain at all?    (Serious question.)

  • Wow, that is a nice touch, recessed balls!
