  • No ice water.  Got it!  Let it pop off on it's own.  Got that too.  I'll have to find some more bottles and try again.  Thanks, dudes!

  • Don't use ice water

  • I use a common glass cutter w/ 2 boards that I connect to make a V- for the wine bottle to rest, then I clamp glass cutter to that & rotate bottle, a good score is key. Then I use boiling water then cool tap water- about 5 times, comes off like butter everytime (almost!)

  • Gotta go slow. Might also be the bottle you're cutting? When I make em I diamond wheel around and around and around. The neck will eventually pop off on its own. Then you use the diamond wheel to smooth / level out the bottom of the cut. I use a flapwheel sander to bevel the inner and outer edge a bit, then a polishing bit w/compound.

  • How on earth do you get the bottle cut that smoothly.  I tried a diamond wheel on a dremel to score the glass and then broke it off.  Uneven cut.  I also tried using the diamond wheel to score the glass, heated it in boiling water, and dunked it in a bowl of ice water.  The cut was cleaner but I got stress fractures shooting through the glass.  Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
