Thanks for an instructive answer. I've just sawn out 9 blanks for upcoming necks. They are lokal (Norwegian) ash pieces, very straight grown an big enough for square cutting, I reinforce them with perpendicular pieces of oak, and if I wish (when time comes) I will use mahagony for the fretboards (maybe even without frets). The big planks from wich they are cut have been dried indoor (in my workshop) for more than 20 years so now is the time. Earlier I used that kind of wood for el-guitar bodies. Keep up the good work and have a very productive 2014 - I will too.
Hey guys, Thanks for the kind words! The construction on this, as well as most of my electrics, is layers of birch plywood to create the body and then I skin the front and back with various 1/4 veneered plywood (typically oak). The neck and fretboards are also oak. I use a lot of scrap wood and the woods I do buy are almost always bought from the local Menards home center.I use a piezo rod pick up under a brass rod in the bridge and it amplifies really well. The tonal quality pretty much relies on the amp you attach it to.This one is tuned A-D-A using 34-26-17 gauge strings.

Same message as Rob Ingrams from me, and a question: What kind/s of wood is/are there in it? How is it tuned?
