    Nice find! May be an off-cut from a wood house column. They are often built like that.

    Unfortunately, I've no idea what the original purpose was of the tube. It was a sidewalk trash score quite a few years ago. Maybe somebody on here will have an idea as to what is was or where to get more...

    What was the original purpose of that tube?  I built a block rim banjo from scratch and would have stepped over my own grandmother for a find like that.

    The drum idea was why I originally saved this. It wasn't until I noticed that it fit perfectly in my mando-banjo case that I thought banjo!
