Sound Hole Screen 3

Finally, here's the screen loosely fitted inside the box.I'll tidy up the sound hole cut edges with a gold maker and some fine felt tip pens before giving the exposed wood a lick of satin varnish to finish.

    Hi Don, Your comment only seems to appear on 'my page' but not here with the pic where you originally posted it, oddly, hence why I copied it across so I could reply.
    Anyways.....glad you like it and hearing your idea makes it worthwhile posting these pics....nice one. Look forward to seeing your take on it when you build the Cohiba.
  • Thanks Dave......and once again to Rob Wrobel for the original sound hole idea that I 'pinched'!

    I was really pleased to find that screen material and have loads left for future builds.  Even though it's quite a large hole, I've found that once epoxied in place with my preferred 'JB Weld' the aluminium screen adds considerable strength and additional bracing to the box.

  • I've added a couple more pics below showing both sound holes together for contrast. Note that the 'silver' version had to be cut a little smaller due the shallower box dimensions.
