Boxy build #22 got a new bridge today. It's Ebony on Walnut. I changed the neck contour so it would have a flat spot back from the original bridge location for better intonation and action. I like the wavy neck dips...

  • Thanks Dean, i like the roll also. First i added the dip above the bridge to have a place to pick. In doing so i lost my bridge position. When i checked i had my bridge 1/4 inch too close to the nut. So i needed to make a level place for my new bridge location and be able to lower the bridge for better string action. That made me make the second curve. It gave me better drop in the strings to the tail also. There wasn't much drop in the original fretboard. Hey, i just learned dulcimers don't have necks. Just fret boards. Who'd a figured...

  • Thanks Bluesheart, ya late in the evening just before sunset the light on the gravel in the driveway is dappled and makes little spotlights for photos. I just discovered this with this build. Dramatic. Just got home from Monday night jam and plucked on her for a while. She's sounding good. Even with rusty strings. New strings tomorrow.
