Here's what the top looks like with the humbucker my father-in-law gave me from a Switch guitar he'd upgraded. I've got the pots, capacitor, and input jack and I can build the neck this weekend. I still need a metal adjustable bridge, so's I can ground the strings properly. I'm also out of money this pay period so I won't be able to buy the bridge and complete the uke this week. Oh well! The delay will give me time to think about how I want to decorate it.

Good looking start. I've been doing a few builds like this recently. Using a slab of spruce framing lumber (2x10") as the body core, and covering top & back with 1/8" hardwood like walnut, cherry, and now I have some zebra wood and wenge for either the fingerboards or tops...look forward to seeing yours finished
