Hi Keni Lee, you are right... and that is also from where I got the inspiration... it also stays in tune well and makes a lot of fun to play... I am just learning to play it based on your Learning DVD "How to play a 3 string cigar box guitar" that I ordered some weeks ago. It's a great source for learning to play the guitar ... thanks a lot for producing that stuff!!!
This tuner design is like those on my CyberFeral Uncle Bob Canjitar except your's are head mounted. They stay in tune well, but it is a little awkward reaching around to tune them. Mine has the screwdriver tuner stored in the headstock. Nice build. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gKnxXrV7bo
These are M5 screws with wingnuts... the screws are pulling the strings when you use the screws... it is exactly the same principle of a normale guitar mechanics but instead of winding via a gear I use the screw to pull the strings... it works very well and keeps tuning (after some first re-tunings) and it is very cheap but looks great ;-) I tried first eye bold screws but they do not keep tuning well and the physical principle is different because they only stay in tune if the nut at the other side is strong enough. And I found out that it is much harder to get in tune ... those screws are much more precise.
I added some other pics with an enhanced version and easier and faster to build in my gallery. Have fun ;-)
