  • thanks for the advice, i'll make a visit to the goodwill stoer this week.

  • Thank You Dennis! Your Silvertone is really cool, it has a great retro vibe to it for sure. It goes very well with your Padron git also :-)

  • REALLY COOL!!!!!!

  • Maddog - love that Midland radio!

  • Start by finding the ground on the guitar 1/4" plug and soldering it to the ground on the volume control pot in the radio (usually a mess of black wires). Then, use trial and error to figure out which of the wires coming off the circuit board is the positive lead from the radio (just have someone strum the guitar while you touch the positive lead off of the guitar to each of the points on the volume pot until you find the right one.)  Disconnect the radio lead and solder the positive lead from the guitar plug to where it was, and you're done!

My other advice is to start with a larger radio.  This thing is TINY.  Finding room to put a 1/4" plug was difficult since very cubic centimeter of space was used.  I ended up taking out the antenna for the AM radio and putting the plug where the antenna used to be.  Larger radios have way more space -- the electronics are tiny compared to the speaker, so there's tons more room.  And, you'd probably get a louder amp when you''re done.  But, this one is tiny and therefore portable, and drives really, really nicely, so I'm pleased.

  • Dennis' amp looks great. If he has any advise he can give on doing this,  that would be great

  • already done

  • I sent a friend request Batt so as soon as you accept it I can send you a message with pics, I feel like I'm hijacking Dennis's fine radio amp conv. here soooooo.

  • been trying to figure how this is done, thanks,Batt

  • If I remember right Batt I went in through the volume pot, it was quite a while ago so I'm not positive. It's out at my store right now but next time I'm out there I'll crack it open and shoot a pic. I had a radio just like this when I was but a wee lad so when I saw this in a shop I had to buy it :-)
