Just finished another bloodwood bridge. Its slotted for a brass saddle which will be the strings ground (I'll drill a hole in the body and the bridge, then run the ground wire under the saddle).

  • Charles, I've got a stick of brass that's about 2" by 1/8" and its around 14" long. I just cut what I need with a dremel and then shape it with a file. I have a finished bridge and saddle in my list of photos. Take a look.
  • Thats a nice piece. I recently made a couple ukes. Thats a nice saddle. Nice idea to ground the strings there. I never thought of that. Especially true if your using an old tube amp. (If you add a .022uf capacitor it might help if 60 cycle hum is an issue.)
How do you make your brass saddles? I always just used ebony or a 1/4-20. I have a uke thats driving me crazy. I made a 17 inch tenor with a bolt on traditional neck. I reinforced the cegar box. It just won't stay in tune. I thinned out the box to clean it up. I made a ebony bridge with a cocobola saddle. Just will not seem to stay in tune.
I may remove the bolt on neck and start over. Frustrating Chuck
