  • Thanks for the info.  I bought two 1x2x48 pieces of pine, and a 1/4x2x48 piece of red oak at Lowe's today.  I'm going to start out building my first one fretless.  Then I'll make me a fretboard on my next build.  I've seen so many different ways to build a neck.  This one you have pictured seems to be the easiest.  Thanks again for your input and I'll post pics as soon as I begin.
  • Hi Andy, there is no separate fretboard, it's just a length of 3/4" x 1 1/2" poplar laminated to another, shorter piece underneath for added strength where I had to cut out for the pickup. What appears to be a fretboard on top is actually just a clearance cutout for the lid of the cigar box. This is only my second build, so I'm just kinda trying things to see what works. I'm really not sure if this is how others go about it. Anyways, thanks for stopping by and best wishes with your first CBG build. I look forward to seeing some pictures. :)
  • Is the neck and fretboard laminated?  I'm about to build my first CBG, and this seems to be the best looking neck I've seen thus far that gives me an idea on how to build one.
