Second build

Sweet tin and a broken broom handle that we found in the cupboard. I've gone through the tin with the broom handle towards the bottom of the tin so that the lid can be lifted off easily to get to the electrics I'm hoping to put in it at some point. I was getting a massive sitar type noise from it at first but Ted Crocker from CBN and Handmade Music Clubhouse gave me advice to minimise the contact at the nut, which is just a simply screw head, by bending the screw backwards. Problem solved and sounding much better. Thanks Ted!

  • I have trouble cutting tin too. Dremmel makes some bits to cut tin but I don't have the knowledge of which one to use.
  • Thanks, Dave. Crude but functional I think and yes definitely fun. Going through the body was funny. I used a drill to start the hole and then a Bowie knife to split just enough of the rest of the tin because I didn't have a hole cutter. It's messily done but it works :) More of a 'how not to do' than anything though lol

  • Looks like fun. Good job!
