  • I get a lot of mine at auctions and flea markets, antique malls usually have a good supply also. You're in Ohio so you should have a pretty good supply of them available, seems like the good wide ones had farming subject matter to them. They were kinda zoned in on the middle part of the country, FARM country that is ;-)

  • I still have a stock pile of yard sticks but they are too narrow for 3 & 4 strings. All the wider ones I've bid on went too high. Maybe I need to get more aggressive.

  • Thanks Davey! I don't normally do fretless builds but I am going to do more now. I really like the way they play, plus I don't have to mess with fret wire ;-)

  • Another nice guit  maddog

  • Thanks Larry! I'm always on the hound dog for more yardsticks, being in the midwest must be an advantage as we have a LOT of them around here. I never pay more than a couple bucks for them.

  • This reminds me of a couple of my builds, using yard sticks and brass linoleum nails for markers. I'm planning a couple of fretless builds in the near future as gifts for friends. I've bid on 3 old wide yard sticks at recent auctions but someone wanted them more than me! Nice build.
