Yeah, the box is all wood. The top slides into grooves, no hinges. So to remove the top, just loosen the strings and slide the top out, no need to remove strings. The wood of the top is nice and thin, great resonance.
I love the salmon box! i have one i've been putting off building with since the bottom isn't wood. it is colorful and large though. is this box all wood?
