Mystery solved! Sapele! I've been trying to ID this wood for a long time.
It is my current favorite. I need to find a resource for this lovely wood.

hey wade, its sapele wood.. beautiful stuff to work.. denser than teak and more stable indoors lots of joiners use it .. i get mine as free offcuts from a mate in the trade =]

i have the same wood from a swing I found being tossed away. My favorite. Looks awesome with a coat of tung oil. Any idea what it is? Teak maybe?
