Ya, that is small. Oddly, even with that 20" scale the board don't look that tight. I bet she sounds like a canon. Thanks again. Hope we get to see her in action. Enjoy.
From head to toe....about 26'. Those strings are heavy, but man they sound great. I tuned it to DADF#AD. But I don't know what the Rev's final choice was. I also put a big ol' orange drop cap on the tone pot. Just for some extra umph. I have to say , I do love this guitar. I matched the neck width and fat C shape of his main Dobro for the neck. That was tough. I usually just do simple 1x2 cigar box necks. It took me two trys.
Wow. What is the overall length? I hope some footage of it makes it online with the Rev. playing her. It looks really good. A pocket canon. Those heavy strings. In standard, how does it tune...up a third? LOL Thanks for the reply. I'm impressed.
Thanks Keni. He requested one that would fit in a mandolin case. He's taking it to Europe ( this week?) for his tour. It had to be a carry on. I don't make a ton of short scales, so it was trial and error to get something that would fit the tunings he uses. He wanted a " Big Damn sound" ,so thats a Gibson '57 classic humbucker. Scale is 20in', which fit purfectly into an ol' 40's mandolin case I had. I used John Pierce Resonator strings ( 16-59) .They worked great!
Very cool. Luv the Rev. Saw him in the NYC...Energy over the top! Nice looking build. What is the scale length? Was he shooting for a specific tuning or specs? Thanks for sharing.
