  • yer awsom dude! i got the pre amp and piezo on the way...im trying without the resonator for now but ..im gona do a resonator at one point..but for some reason it has a raspy sound already..maybe the small box? this is all good stuff!

  • That sounds good.  I know the sound can vary a lot depending on where you attach the piezo under the resonator.  You may want to tape it on at first and try different places.   Also, this is a very heavy (thick) resonator.  It's actually a discarded ash tray from a hookah. It's more for looks than a great tinny sound.  The super-thin spun brass or aluminum resonators (like Old Lowe sell) will give you the best results.  While I love salvaging things - dog bowls, ash trays, tin cans, etc. look great but don't (in my experience) alter the sound much.

  • ok thas kinda what i wanted to know...im thinkin maybe a preamp tuner eq whith a piezo..i know the pickups look cool on there but im not putting them on if they dont work..man i dig that tinny sound! lol!

  • It does not pick up the sound of the resonator (or too little to notice).  I made another one and glued a piezo to the underside of the resonator.  That one picks up more of the metallic resonator sound, but still not as much as you would think.  I do notice that the piezo is really loud if you accidentally knock your fingers against the resonator.  It is much more sensitive than when glued to the underside of a wood box.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • my question is. does the coil pickup get the sound of the resonator...im torn between a piezo and a coil pickup. can you help?

  • Yes, it sounds really good, thanks for asking.
  • Does it sound as good as it looks?
