Here is a pic of my prototype reso. I used a metal baking dish installed upside down for the cone and made my cover out of galv. roof flashing. I sodiered the cosspiece on with a propane torch. It has a decent reso sound for what went into it, but I'm going to keep experimenting with the cone. Good luck..
Mark cool reso here, Did you dish our (convex) it somehow? Thanks for the comment on mine Mark. I used the piece of liner mahogany and a 1/4" piece of oak plywood I had lying around for where I bolted on on this one. I see great minds think alike (or fools just figure it out. THis is the first time I am working with the back of the box as the front of the CBG. I am going to overlay part of the fretboard (and glue it) on the box as well, which will provide some support.
Unfortunately, no. I've been working up to it; I have a decent mic, and I have the "Audacity" sound-mixing program. Just haven't stuck it all together yet!
First "real" resonator build. The resonator is an aluminum cover from a girl-scout cooking set. The neck is a piece of oak I found at work, already nicely tapered. First time I tried a volume control; worked very well. I played this guitar in public about a week ago, plugged into a PA, and it worked fine. (got a lot of comments, too)
The fret position markers are made from punched-out chunks of a Fender flatpick, holes drilled with a Forstner bit.
I tossed around the idea of buying one of those commercial covers, but the 30 bucks seemed a bit dear... I found this aluminum pot lid at a thrift store for .69 cents.... Cut with my skilsaw and drilled.
Little devil sounds great!
