Rand, the holes are only on the lid. I opened the box and laid it on the ground, then shot it point-blank. I actually got the idea from a picture I saw here, where somebody had used a shotgun. Who it was escapes me, though. The tuners work great. They're not as easy to use as geared tuners, but they hold tuning really well. Once you get used to them, they're no big deal at all.
Nice looking Reso CBG. Looks like powder burns on one sound hole. Do the holes appear on the back side or the box too? Interesting way of creating sound holes. How are the home made tuners working out for you?

I really enjoyed playing on this guitar!! Thanks for coming over it was fun!! I def have to build a paint lid reso it sounds really nice.
