I tell people all the time you don't need to buy exotic wood that was raped out of some rainforest and shipped thousands of miles on fossil fuels. This is eastern Redbud, lost to an ice storm a few weeks ago. It tests vary similar to Ash and Oak in terms of strength, hardness and density. And... its gorgeous, and in the backyard! Go outside and find yerself some nice wood!
