  • Yes the barn is quite old and looks pretty funky now with pieces of new wood on it. I had a coffee tin of the nails, used them on a few projects but might have a handful left.

  • They're either a machine-stamped or hand-hammered nail. If they're a uniform thickness they're probably stamped and made some time in the 1800s. I did a bit of research when I found similar, stamped, ones holding my house together (it's a converted barn). They were used up here (Western Canada) up until about 1910. I've used a few for bridges and nuts.

  • I'm not much of a player yet,  I know about five chords and tuning can be difficult, but what it's tuned to now sounds pretty good. Thanks for the positive comments.

  • Not sure what kind of nails they are? Found them in the barn with the wood and they looked cool as hell.
