Simple tuners made using dowels. The screw pulls it tight to the headstock and stays in tune. I sprinkled salt in the cavity for more friction.

Thanks! This was part of an order I received for 10 instruments to be displayed in a blues themed club. I made them all real quick (4 days) but made sure each was playable.
I like your design. It has a lot of eye appeal. Traditionally friction pegs have a taper. Pulling out slightly they turn, pushed in they lock. Friction pegs are also used with gut / nylon strings because they have lower string tension than steel strings. As you know, steel uses geared machines. I would encourage you to continue to experiment. Possibly your could develop a hybrid. Enjoy
