Well, since Sean Robert has thrown down the 'how do YOU install a pickup' challenge, here's mine from today. "Say hello to my leetle friend." Drilled a series of holes in the box lid and trimmed them with a steak knife. Once the lipstick pickup just about fit I squeezed it the rest of the way through. Handwired, too, btw - connected to a length of wire attached to an XLR jack. At this point I've only twisted the wires together since my soldering iron is elsewhere, but it does work. And the look is everything you want in a pre-Cuban-Embargo cigar box.Take THAT.
