    No, the "defect" is all mine... this chunk o' maple was very resistant to the stain, so I used a good number of coats... and some of it was not wiped up, so you can see a little build-up of the stain to the left of the bass string tuner.

    There are no "defects" it's character. I don't see it. What kind of wood?
