  • nice work
  • Wow! Great work! I fear step#1 is : learn to be a machinist.
  • Thanks for the compliment, PapaSimone!  I'm a machinist by trade, so I got a piece of 16ga scrap sheetmetal from the fab shop.  I ground the profile out on a belt sander and made the curved radius by pounding it out with a ball peen hammer inside a 5 inch piece of steel pipe.  I got that corrugated look by tapping it lightly with a running angle grinder at different angles.  As for the raised dimples, I pounded those out on the backside with a hammer and punch.  And for the rust?  I'm still working on that by cleaning it lightly to make the rust as fine as possible.
  • Really nice!  I'd love to learn how to do this.  What type of metal do you start off with?
  •  I really like the look of the hammer & punch. I want to try that.  Your looks really good.
