I sanded the headstock today to thin it a bit for the new tuners. They have long shafts with two sets of holes each. Metal buttons should hold up well. It tuned up real easy. I added longer screws to the tailpiece/bridge and got it tight. Holding so far...

Thanks South Paw. And Clock, i'll work on a video of the beast. I think i'll revise it once more to solve a ground issue and get the strings closer to the pup. #23 has to come apart one more time and get a new bridge plate. This one is hard leaving the hospital.
You got that right Randy. It was spectacular when she blew. Now, i've got 2 inch wood screws #8s. I've got 10s in reserve if this blows. But then i have to enlarge the holes in the tailpiece, so i don't want to do that. Now after its all together and play it tonight, I've decided to break it down one more time to rewire the tone pot (again) and fix my ground connection to the bridge (I think i've chewed it up with my "screw job" (if you know what i mean...). I'm going to make a new bridge plate out of Padauk. Just one layer. This will lower the bridge closer to the pickup. It's a tad high now. It will be just right when the bridge is lowered. It will be stronger too.
lookin good dave, i remember one time old lowe told me he didn`t have the tailpiece secure enough on one of his lowebro builds and the thing flew apart when he had all 6 strings under tension. Good to use big fat screws on those tailpieces.
