You can see in this shot how I often have to use a Jumbo fret for the first fret, then a screw bolt for the nut. This is because after being glued to the neck - before the fret board is added - the cut on the head stock is often not optimum. OK, it's crooked and downhill. Anyway, this seems to compensate.I have use the woodworking skills the the Gods of Sawdust have condescended to give me.

Interesting recovery,.. as long as it works right? I usually use little wood shims to fill the gap, and a mix of glue and fine sawdust to fill any gaps., certainly not as pretty as your method., beautiful work, and i always like to see you headstocks
